Scope and Purpose

The Haliç University Journal of Social Sciences is an international peer-reviewed journal published twice a year and accepts manuscripts in both English and Turkish. The journal publishes academic, scientific and research-based articles in the fields of social sciences, humanities and conservatory studies. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed and evaluated by at least two expert reviewers.

The Haliç University Journal of Social Sciences was published twice a year, in March and September, both online and in print, starting from September 2018; however, as of August 9, 2021, it has continued its publication exclusively in an online format on the same schedule.

1. Manuscripts that do not comply with the author guidelines regarding the preparation of the abstract, figures, tables, in-text citations, and references will be rejected outright.
2. Submitted manuscripts must present original research findings that address a gap in the relevant field.
3. The Editorial Board initially reviews all submitted manuscripts in terms of publication principles, journal scope, scientific content, and formal requirements. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary review are sent to at least two reviewers for evaluation. For a manuscript to be accepted for publication, it must receive positive evaluations from both reviewers. When necessary, a third reviewer may be invited to contribute to the evaluation process. The final decision throughout the process rests with the Editor.
4. All manuscripts submitted for publication are verified for originality and plagiarism using the Turnitin software. After the similarity report is reviewed by the journal editors, manuscripts with a similarity rate of 20% or below (excluding references) are forwarded to reviewers for evaluation. For manuscripts with a similarity rate exceeding 20% (excluding references), authors are requested to make revisions. If the required revisions are not completed within 20 days, the manuscript will be rejected.
5. No fees are charged to authors for the evaluation or publication of manuscripts.
6. Authors bear full responsibility for their manuscripts. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with internationally accepted principles of scientific and publication ethics. Where required, a copy of the Ethics Committee Approval must be submitted.
7. Articles published in the journal are also made available electronically via the DergiPark platform.
8. Except for personal use, articles, figures, and tables published in the Haliç University Journal of Social Sciences may not be reproduced, stored in any retrieval system, or used in advertising or promotional materials without written permission. In scientific works, quotations may be made provided that appropriate citation is given.

The Haliç University Journal of Social Sciences is an open access journal.

The scientific and legal responsibility for the published articles rests solely with the authors. Authors are responsible for the content of their manuscripts and the accuracy of the references. The Editor, Associate Editor, members of the Editorial and Advisory Boards and the Publisher do not accept any responsibility for errors in the journal or for any consequences arising from the use of the information contained therein.
