Introduction | Violence and Trauma Studies Application and Research Center

The Center for Violence and Trauma Studies Research and Application (ŞİTAM) aims to examine theoretical concepts related to the phenomena of violence and trauma directed at individuals affected by all forms of violence and trauma, particularly children, women, the elderly and other vulnerable groups. The Center seeks to utilize the studies conducted within ŞİTAM in the education and training of students and professionals and to carry out collaborative research activities at the international level.

The Center for Violence and Trauma Studies Research and Application has been established to address a significant need in Türkiye by sharing scientific data and research findings on the scope and impact of violence and trauma experienced annually, thereby contributing to evidence-based awareness and policy development.

Objectives

The objectives of the Center for Violence and Trauma Studies Research and Application include:

  • To conduct multidisciplinary research examining the causes, processes and consequences of violence and trauma.

  • To facilitate the sharing and dissemination of information related to the causes and formation of violence and trauma.

  • To organize national and international training programs in collaboration with experts, practitioners and academics specializing in violence and trauma.

  • To organize events and seminars with nationally and internationally recognized experts, practitioners and academics in the field of violence and trauma.

  • To establish cooperation and partnerships with national and international institutions and organizations.

  • To conduct research and publish and disseminate findings in a manner that is accessible and understandable to the public.

  • To establish a comprehensive electronic library and create an information database incorporating audiovisual materials related to violence and trauma.
