What is Education in Industry?

  • The Education in Industry Program is a practice-based skill training model that allows Haliç University associate and undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience by working in a professional workplace during their studies.
  • The program is designed as an educational model conducted in collaboration with partner institutions co-planned and co-managed with them and implemented directly in the workplace, complementing classroom, laboratory and workshop courses.
  • Through this program, students are offered the opportunity to observe and apply the fundamental academic knowledge and concepts they have learned at the university in real-world professional settings. In this way, the foundational knowledge acquired at school is redefined and reinforced through direct industry experience.

Operation of the Education in Industry Program

  • Participation in the Education in Industry Program is not mandatory. Students may complete their studies without taking part in the program.
  • The program consists of applied training courses in which Haliç University associate and undergraduate students participate for three semesters during their education. Students receive practical training in private or public sector institutions, enterprises, or non-governmental organizations related to their field of study.
  • All undergraduate and associate degree students who meet the requirements of their departments or programs may benefit from the program, regardless of whether their program includes a mandatory internship.

Duration of the Education in Industry Program

  • The program consists of three semesters of applied training carried out within the education period defined in the University’s Education, Training and Examination Regulations. Each semester lasts 14 weeks.
  • The program may be conducted during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students may attend the workplace on their available days and hours, provided that the weekly working time is no less than 10 hours.

Application to the Education in Industry Program

  • Undergraduate students who have a minimum GPA of 2.00 and have successfully completed their first and second-year courses, and associate degree students who have completed their first-year courses are eligible to apply.
  • Following the start of the application period, students may select up to five preferred institutions from the list of organizations providing quotas for their respective departments.
  • The Education in Industry Coordination Office invites participating institutions to select students from this list. These institutions may choose students regardless of whether they have been listed among the students’ preferences. Institutions may also conduct interviews with selected students before making their final decision.
  • Once both student and company preferences are finalized, a matching process is carried out through the Education in Industry Database. The results of this process are announced by the university to both students and institutions.

Students Accepted to the Education in Industry Program

  • Before beginning their workplace training, selected students attend the Industry Orientation Course offered by the University. In addition, elective preparatory courses relevant to the participating sectors may be offered prior to the program.
  • Participating students must comply with the workplace’s working hours for a minimum duration of 14 weeks. If a student’s total absenteeism (including sick leave) exceeds 20% of the total training period, the student will be considered unsuccessful due to absenteeism.
  • Students do not have leave entitlement during the program. Any student who is absent for more than three consecutive days without permission or a valid excuse will be dismissed from the program.
