The Double Major Program allows undergraduate students who are successfully pursuing their primary degree to take courses from a second undergraduate program and earn an additional bachelor’s diploma.
The purpose of the Double Major Program is to enable students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in their primary undergraduate program to pursue studies in another field simultaneously and obtain a second bachelor’s degree.
Application and Admission Requirements
- Double Major Program applications are made to the relevant faculty or vocational school within the dates announced in the academic calendar, together with the application form, transcript and ÖSYM Exam Result Document. (Forms can be obtained from the faculty or vocational school to which the student is applying.)
- Students may apply to the Double Major Program as early as the beginning of the 3rd semester and no later than the beginning of the 5th semester of their primary degree program.
- To be eligible for application, the student must have successfully completed all credit courses in the main program up to the semester of application, must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.72 out of 4.00 and must rank within the top 20% of their cohort in the relevant class of their main program.
- Candidates applying to Haliç University programs requiring special aptitude must take and pass the aptitude examination administered by the respective departments.
- Applications of students meeting the necessary criteria are processed by the relevant Deanery of Faculty or Directorate of Vocational School. Admission becomes final upon the recommendation of the department applied to and the approval of the relevant Faculty or Vocational School Administrative Board.
- Students may register for only one Double Major Program at a time. Students who are currently enrolled in a Double Major Program may apply for another program only after officially withdrawing from the existing one.
- To graduate from a Double Major Program, a student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.72 out of 4.00. During the course of double major studies, the GPA may drop once to a minimum of 2.50 out of 4.00. If the GPA drops below 2.50 out of 4.00 a second time, the student’s enrollment in the second major program will be terminated.
