| Molecular Biology and Genetics, an ever-developing, interdisciplinary branch of science, investigates the basic properties, structures and functions of the molecules that make up life, their interactions with each other, and the cellular responses that result from these interactions. The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is an innovative and qualified program that produces entrepreneurs, researchers, international qualifications, committed to ethical values, understanding the functioning of living things at the molecular level, applying their knowledge for the benefit of society and developing solutions to problems. The department, which started education in the 2000-2001 academic year within the body of Haliç University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, gave its first graduates in 2004. It continues its education with its expert academic staff. In addition to his undergraduate education, he started to provide education in the field of graduate education in the 2004-2005 academic year. Haliç University Molecular Biology and Genetics Department offers education opportunities to students with its high quality education program, well-equipped laboratory infrastructure and expert and experienced faculty members. In the first two years of the undergraduate program, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology courses, which are mainly basic science courses, are given in order to provide students with a scientific background. In the last two years, compulsory theoretical and laboratory courses such as molecular biology, molecular genetics, molecular biology techniques and molecular biology applications, cell molecular biology are given. Apart from this, in addition to the compulsory courses on cancer biology and genetics, genetic engineering, stem cell biology, RNA world, bioinformatics, molecular microbiology and microbial technology courses, field and non-field elective courses are given in special fields so that students can explore different aspects of their departments. At the end of 4 years, our students complete the program as well-equipped, sought-after and preferred graduates in the field. Thanks to the equipment they have acquired during their undergraduate education, graduates are preferred in R&D centers, genetic laboratories of hospitals, private genetic diagnosis laboratories, IVF centers, Forensic Medicine Institute, agriculture, livestock and pharmaceutical sectors, or they can continue their careers as academicians. Molecular Biology and Genetics Department also offers double major and minor programs with departments such as Mathematics, Engineering departments, Midwifery, Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, students are given the opportunity to study abroad within the scope of the Erasmus Exchange Program.

Message from the Head of the Department
Our department was established in 2000. Our department, which has been teaching Turkish from its establishment until the 2019-2020 academic year, has been the language of education with the approval of YÖK since the 2020-2021 academic year. Students who do not reach the required score in the English proficiency exam are required to attend a one-year English preparatory program. The education period in our department is 4 years. In the first year of our undergraduate program, in order to provide our students with a scientific background, mainly basic sciences: biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics; In the following years, departments such as molecular biology, genetics, molecular biology techniques, cell molecular biology, molecular microbiology, cancer biology are given. Our laboratory studies are applications of theoretical courses. Most of our theoretical courses include laboratory courses. Students attend our labs in small groups. The experiments are first explained by the lecturer of the course, and then the students gain experience by doing the experiments individually or with their group friends under the supervision of our faculty members and assistants. Our graduates can become academicians in many fields such as hospitals, genetic diagnosis centers, forensic medicine, stem cells, in vitro fertilization, pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology companies, food industry, R&D, plant and animal genetics, seed breeding, vaccine companies, microbial technology. can take charge.
