Haliç Üniversitesi | Academic | Faculties | Faculty of Health Sciences | Departments | Speech and Language Therapy
About The Program

Established in 2025, our Department of Speech and Language Therapy aims to educate specialists who assess, prevent, and treat communication, language, speech, voice, and swallowing disorders. Our primary goal is to train therapists who are ethically responsible, socially conscious, and committed to following current scientific advancements in the field.

Our department is structured around a contemporary curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical training. Students are equipped with the competencies required to work with individuals across all age groups, from early childhood to adulthood. Through clinical practice, laboratory-supported courses, and internship opportunities, students gain essential professional experience.

Our educational program adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating core sciences such as anatomy, physiology, psychology, and neurology with the field of speech and language therapy. In addition, we aim to graduate professionals who are capable of conducting research, thinking critically, and generating solutions—enabling them to actively participate in both national and international platforms.

With its newly established and dynamic structure, our Department of Speech and Language Therapy is committed to training future expert therapists through its qualified academic staff, strong physical infrastructure, and student-centered educational approach.

Established in 2025 under the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Haliç University aims to provide contemporary education focused on the assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of communication, language, speech, voice, and swallowing disorders.

Our department is dedicated to training competent and ethically responsible speech and language therapists through a student-centered approach, strong academic staff, and scientifically grounded clinical practice. The curriculum integrates knowledge from linguistics, anatomy, physiology, neurology, psychology, and acoustics to equip students with both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

Throughout the program, students gain valuable field experience through internships at our fully equipped Speech and Language Therapy Practice and Research Center and affiliated hospitals and rehabilitation institutions, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional application.

Graduates of the program are qualified to work in hospitals, private clinics, special education centers, universities, and rehabilitation facilities, or to establish their own consultancy practices.

The Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Haliç University strives to foster a strong academic community that combines scientific research, social responsibility, and professional ethics.
Upon successful completion of the Speech and Language Therapy Program, students are awarded a Bachelor’s Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy.
Candidates who have successfully completed high school or an equivalent institution and have achieved a qualifying score in the Numerical (SAY) score type of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) are eligible for admission to the program.

Transfer applications are carried out in accordance with the regulations set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Students applying for transfer are expected to have achieved a certain level of academic success in equivalent programs at other universities. Transfer procedures are conducted in two forms: internal transfers (within the institution) and external transfers (from other institutions).

International students are admitted to the program in accordance with the current “Haliç University Directive on the Admission of International Students.” Admission is based on the evaluation of high school equivalency, academic performance, and proof of English language proficiency.

All applications are processed in compliance with the academic calendar and procedures established by Haliç University.
Graduates who successfully complete their undergraduate education may continue their academic studies in their own field or in related disciplines by applying to master’s and doctoral programs, provided that they obtain a valid score from the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) and document their English language proficiency (YDS, TOEFL, etc.) at the level determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
