About The Program

Mission

To train communicators with a critical point of view, who have internalized the theoretical background of Public Relations and related disciplines, have the ability to put this infrastructure into practice by considering local and universal values, and prioritize the benefit of society and social responsibility awareness in line with ethical values.

Vision

To train communicators who can differentiate themselves from their competitors by taking the theoretical and practical infrastructure of Public Relations and related communication disciplines, and to adopt a training program that keeps up with the current and digital age, which will enable us to differentiate from similar departments of universities, and which is in direct contact with the sector.

The Department of Public Relations and Publicity was established in 2008 within the Faculty of Business Administration and had its first graduates in 2012-2013. In our department, which is open to innovation, there are commissions, internal and external stakeholders, advisory boards established in line with quality standards; Curriculums are regularly updated in line with stakeholder opinions.
In order to prepare the students for the sector, workshop trainings on basic journalism are organized apart from the curriculum courses. In addition to these, as of the 2022-2023 academic year, The Public Relations Agency started its activities under the chairmanship of Assistant Prof. Dr. Kemal ASLAN.

The Public Relations and Publicity Department has been accredited by İLEDAK/İLAD until January 12, 2028.
Our graduates are awarded The Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and Publicity.
Student admissions to the Department of Public Relations and Publicity are made according to the results of the examinations made by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) or the decisions of YÖK (Council of Higher Education).
Our graduates are able to study for postgraduate degree in public relations or other relevant fields.

Students who have fulfilled the following conditions are deemed to have graduated by completing their studies:

1. To have successfully completed the obligations stipulated by the education and training program in which they are registered.
2. To complete 240 credits
3. To be successful in all compulsory and elective courses required by the education and training program
4. To be successful at least 60 ECTS elective courses in the curriculum
5. To have provided at least 2,00 WGPA
6. To be successful in completing the internship and graduation project

Graduates of Public Relations and Publicity Department work in various departments such as corporate communication, public relations and marketing in the private sector and/or public institutions. Graduates conduct strategic planning, market and consumer research in PR agencies, tourism sector, media organizations or any kind of companies; they also carry out works such as media planning and communication consultancy. Graduates of the program are employed as brand manager, communication consultant, strategic communication coordinator, public relations manager, customer representative, customer relations manager and media relations manager.
In measuring success in a course; midterm exams, additional exams, field and workplace work, practice, homework, projects, workshops, seminars, attendance, laboratories and similar midterm studies for that course constitutes 40% of the course evaluation grade. The final exam or make-up exam constitutes 60% of the course evaluation grade. Methods on how to evaluate the courses are described in detail in the Bologna Information Packages of the courses. The grading system is carried out in accordance with Halic University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations.
