İktisat bölümünün temel misyonu öğrencilerimize iktisatçı gibi düşünebilme ve karar alma yetisini geliştirmek üzerinedir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öğrenciler, ekonomi biliminin esasını oluşturan mikroiktisat, makroiktisat, uluslararası iktisat, para teorisi ve politikası, büyüme ekonomisi ve kalkınma ekonomisi gibi temel dersleri alırlar. Ayrıca, bu alanlarda bilimsel çözümlemelerin gerektirdiği analiz araçlarını kullanma yeteneğini edinmeleri amacıyla, matematik, istatistik ve ekonometri gibi destek derslerini de alırlar. Ulusal kaynakların verimli ve etkin bir şekilde kullanılmasını sağlamak ve böylece sürdürülebilir bir gelecek oluşturmak için bilimsel yayınlar yapmak ve mezunlar yetiştirmek bölümün vizyonunu oluşturmaktadır.

| Graduates of the Department of Economics possess strong theoretical and analytical skills, allowing them to work in a wide range of positions across both the public and private sectors. In the public sphere, they may be employed in institutions such as the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Trade, Development Agencies, and local governments. In the private sector, career opportunities include banking, finance, insurance, consulting, foreign trade, marketing, and human resources. Additionally, graduates who wish to pursue an academic path can continue with master’s and doctoral studies and work as researchers or faculty members at universities. |

In measuring success in a course; midterm exams, additional exams, field and workplace work, practice, homework, projects, workshops, seminars, attendance, laboratories and similar midterm studies for that course constitutes 40% of the course evaluation grade. The final exam or make-up exam constitutes 60% of the course evaluation grade. Methods on how to evaluate the courses are described in detail in the Bologna Information Packages of the courses.
