Haliç University Conservatory is among the leading art institutions in Turkey with its location, departments, teaching staff and mission. Our conservatory started its education with the Turkish Music Department in the 1999-2000 academic year, then the Theater in the 2001-2002 academic year and the Opera and Concert Singing departments in the 2007-2008 academic year. Haliç University Conservatory, in addition to being the first conservatory among foundation universities, is also the first conservatory to include departments such as Turkish Music, Theater and Opera. Since the day he stepped into our Conservatory, the student feels the elite and different atmosphere created by these three branches of art and takes quicker and more confident steps towards becoming an artist.

Master's studies with and without thesis continue successfully in Turkish Music and Theater Major Art Branches. Moreover; Turkish Music Major Art Proficiency Program is also carried out with very valuable teachers. The leading artist teachers of our country in every branch of art work devotedly and share their experience and deep knowledge with their students.

Aim; First of all, it is to increase the artistic potential of our country in a quality way, based on national and universal aesthetic values, and to offer attractive job opportunities to our talented young people. To develop their knowledge and creativity, and to bring them into society as a fully equipped young generation in national and international fields, with a high understanding of art, open-minded, scientific and artistic idealism.
Our conservatory has an important place in its wide range of arts, both with the students it educates and the art activities it organizes. Our goal is; To be at the forefront with studies that are worthy of our university, suitable for its structure, open to creativity and innovations, and which will make a lot more noise in our country and in the world.
Upon successful completion of the program students will be given BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE IN TURKISH MUSIC.
Admission to the Department of Turkish Music is conducted through a special talent examination organized by the department head, taking into account the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score from the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

Students who successfully pass the initial exam administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center are eligible to take the Turkish Music Department's special talent exam. The Special Talent Exam consists of two stages: ear training and performance. The first stage includes ear training, melody repetition, and rhythm repetition. In the second stage, the candidate's performance of an instrumental or vocal piece is evaluated. Students who achieve a sufficient score in the second stage are eligible to register.
Upon successful completion of this programme, students may apply to master’s (second cycle) and in some cases, to doctorate (third cycle) degree programs in or related fields of TURKISH MUSIC. According to the National Regulations on Graduate Education, students are admitted to master’s programmes taking into account their undergraduate (first cycle degree) achievement level and the scores on the subject-specific entrance examinations of the Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) centrally administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Within the framework of the national regulations, regulations endorsed by the senate of each university stipulate the weight of ALES Examination results in the overall evaluation of candidates. Depending on the institutions’ regulations, for some programmes to be accessed, a certain level of foreign language proficiency is also required.
