He was born in Erzincan. He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Istanbul University, where he also completed his Ph.D. In addition, he studied Business Administration at the Istanbul Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences.

He has served as a faculty member at Sakarya University, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Doğuş University, Konya Karatay University and Medipol University. In 1993, he founded the Department of Sociology at Sakarya University. He became an Associate Professor in 1990 and a Professor in 1995. He has been a member of the Senate of Sakarya University, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Executive Board and the Institute of Social Sciences Executive Board.

He conducted research at Leicester University (United Kingdom) on “The Role of Culture in Business” and at The University of Iowa (United States) on “Modeling the Social Dimension of Human Resources.” He also led the Turkish component of the project “Revitalization of Environmental Industrial Cities” carried out in partnership with Lodz University (Poland), Sakarya University and eight other universities.

He managed the Health Transformation Project with the World Bank in 2002 and the Biosafety Institutional Framework Project with UNEP–GEF in 2005. In addition, he directed the research project titled “Traces of Culture and Civilization in Safranbolu.”

He has coordinated numerous projects for public and private organizations in the fields of management, human resources, public relations and institutional development and has delivered professional training in human resources, corporate culture, public relations, personal development and change management.

Together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, he has led several youth-oriented projects, including “Empowering Youth in Turkey” “Leadership Training Program for Middle and High School Students in Ümraniye Municipality” “Guidance and Counseling Program for Secondary and High School Students in Konya Karatay” and “Values Education at the International Imam Hatip College”.

He has also served as a manager, consultant and educator in several non-governmental and professional organizations, including the National Turkish Student Union, Birlik Foundation, İlim Yayma Foundation, Humanitarian, Social and Legal Research Center Association, Writers’ Union and the Sociologists Association.

He is the author of several textbooks on Sociology, Alternative Approaches to Social Sciences, Industrial History, Public Relations, Social Change in Turkey, Social Science and Values, as well as book chapters on Education, Urbanization and Demography in Turkey. He has presented scholarly papers at numerous national and international conferences in Turkish and English and has published various academic studies and articles.

His published books include “Political Disintegration in the Ottoman Empire” “American Influence in Turkey” “Youth in Turkey” “Preparing for Tomorrow” and “Seventy Rules for Success”. He has also translated the work “Islam and Sociology” from English.

He currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology and as the Dean of Student Affairs at Haliç University.
