A scientific study in the field of e-commerce conducted by our faculty member, Dr. Naim Çetintürk from the Department of Business Administration, has been published in the prestigious Q1 journal International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management.
Dr. Naim Çetintürk’s study, titled “Beyond Clickstream: Web Analytics and Session Duration in E-commerce Conversion” has been published in International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management (IJRDM), one of the leading Q1 journals in its field, marking a significant academic achievement. The study offers innovative contributions to the fields of e-commerce and retail by comprehensively examining the impact of web analytics metrics on conversion performance.
Within the scope of the research, traffic data obtained from 1,315 pages of a leading e-commerce platform operating in Türkiye and the United Kingdom were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 software and multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate that average session duration has a positive effect on conversion rates, while bounce rate, new user rate, and the number of pages viewed per session are significant determinants of session duration.
Unlike the majority of clickstream studies in the literature, which primarily rely on individual user data, this research is distinguished by its use of a comprehensive dataset derived from a real e-commerce platform. In this respect, the study provides valuable contributions to both the academic literature and industry practices regarding the relationship between user behavior and e-commerce conversion performance.
Presenting strategic insights for enhancing e-commerce performance, the study serves as a guiding resource in the areas of user engagement, digital marketing, and conversion optimization. This achievement, marked by publication in a prestigious Q1 journal, once again demonstrates Haliç University’s capacity for high-quality scientific research at the international level.
We congratulate our faculty member and wish him continued success.
