Our student, Erdinç Yıkılkan, participated in the COP31 Climate Ambassadors Training Camp organized within the scope of the Climate Ambassadors Movement, where he stood out with his academic work and earned the opportunity to take an active role in the international climate policy process.
An important event was held within the scope of the Climate Ambassadors Movement initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate of Climate Change, in line with Türkiye’s 2053 net-zero emission target and green development policies, with the aim of strengthening the role of young people in combating climate change.
The “COP31: Climate Ambassadors Training Camp,” held in Gaziantep on 15–16 April 2026, was designed to ensure the active participation of young people in the COP31 process, which Türkiye will host, and to support their meaningful contribution to climate policies. Within the program, participants received comprehensive training on topics such as climate change, global climate policies, green transformation, and sustainable development goals, aiming to enhance their knowledge and representation capacity.
Representing Haliç University, our student Erdinç Yıkılkan actively participated in the program alongside climate ambassadors from various universities. During the camp, he delivered a presentation titled “Through Which Methods Can Waste Textile Products Be Recycled?” within the scope of the SANKO Holding Re&Up Program. In his presentation, his suggestion to promote second-hand use prior to recycling was highly appreciated by SANKO Holding executives, and he was invited to visit textile factories.
Previously, Erdinç Yıkılkan participated in the Climate Ambassadors Training Camp held in Konya between 29 September and 1 October 2025. He was also invited to the Zero Waste Forum held between 17–19 October 2025 and contributed to workshops at a symposium in Kırşehir focused on environmental sustainability and student engagement.
Moreover, Yıkılkan was selected for the adaptation policy working group established within the scope of COP31, which will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya, marking another significant achievement. In this role, he will actively contribute to the development of climate change adaptation policies and participate in national and international efforts in this field.
