Turkish Musical Heritage Discussed at the “Days with Doğan Canku” Event

Organized by the Conservatory, the event titled “Days with Doğan Canku” focused on Turkish musical heritage, the contributions of artists and processes of cultural production.

The program opened with a performance of “Fikrimden Geceler.” It included reflections on influential figures who have made significant contributions to Turkish music and modern folk music. The works and artistic impact of musicians such as Timur Selçuk, Esin Avşar and Mehmet Ali Miranlı were discussed from various perspectives and insights into their creative processes were shared.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Şerife Güvençoğlu, Head of the Turkish Music Department, spoke about Doğan Canku’s artistic career, his contributions to Turkish music and his cultural legacy. She also emphasized the importance of the University’s support for such cultural initiatives and expressed her appreciation to the academic and administrative staff involved in organizing the event.
