Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Nihat İnanç, met with our students with disabilities during a luncheon organized in observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. The program was also attended by our Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Nurettin Konar.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat İnanç stated, “Life is full of different tests for each of us. Some of us are tested with health, others with illness; some with abundance, others with scarcity. Yet, life goes on, and we must be grateful in all circumstances.” Emphasizing that health, comfort, or material possessions do not guarantee happiness, Prof. Dr. İnanç added, “There are always those who face greater challenges in life. With this awareness, we must overcome difficulties without losing connection with life.”
In his speech, Prof. Dr. İnanç also highlighted that people with disabilities should have equal opportunities in education and social life. He stated, “For us, there is no difference between a student with a disability and a hundred other students. The concerns of one student are the concerns of the rector, just as the concerns of a hundred students are. If they have requests, they will be fulfilled regardless of cost.”
Prof. Dr. Nihat İnanç expressed that he views the International Day of Persons with Disabilities as a Day of Global Advocacy. He emphasized that the university will continue to strengthen together in listening to every student’s voice and will persist in the struggle for an accessible and inclusive life.
