Muhammed Yavuz Selim Oğuz, a student in the Department of Coaching Education at the Faculty of Sport Sciences, achieved a major success by taking first place in the men’s overall ranking at the 38th Bosphorus Intercontinental Swimming Race, one of the world’s most prestigious open water swimming events.

Held in the Bosphorus on Sunday, August 23, 2026, the race saw Oğuz complete the 6.5-kilometer course in 51 minutes and 13 seconds, securing first place in the men’s overall ranking. He was followed by Doğukan Ulaç, who finished in 52:03 and Mark Shrom, who finished in 52:39.

Organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee (TMOK) since 1989, the Bosphorus Intercontinental Swimming Race was held this year with the participation of 2,500 swimmers from 64 countries.
