Our University and Palet Turkish Music Primary School, operating under the New Türkiye Education Foundation (YETEV), have signed a comprehensive educational cooperation protocol aimed at advancing Turkish music education into the future. Prior to the signing ceremony, members of our Conservatory faculty and students were introduced to the Çamlıca Campus of Palet Turkish Music Primary School, where detailed information was provided about the school’s vision and facilities.
The cooperation protocol, which marks a new phase in Turkish music education, was signed by YETEV Board of Trustees Chairman Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan and Haliç University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Kemal Bilal Aydın, in a ceremony attended by guests as observers. Following the signing, a short concert consisting of instrumental and vocal works of Turkish music was presented by students of Palet Turkish Music Primary School.
After the concert, YETEV Board of Trustees Chairman Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Haliç University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Kemal Bilal Aydın, Haliç University Rector Prof. Dr. Enes Eryarsoy, and Director of Haliç University Conservatory Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç met with guests and held an informal discussion. The meeting addressed cultural and artistic policies, the future of Turkish music education, and conservatory education processes. Guests shared their views and their questions were answered.
Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan stated that in order to prevent cultural erosion, it is important to properly learn the elements of our own culture and transmit them strongly to younger generations, noting that these institutions are working in line with this objective.
Kemal Bilal Aydın stated that Haliç University Conservatory, with its long-standing history, hosts distinguished figures and continues to maintain a strong academic staff consisting of highly respected masters of Turkish music.
Prof. Dr. Enes Eryarsoy referred to Bach’s “Crab Canon,” noting that just as the same melody can be read from left to right and right to left, and becomes more colorful and harmonious when performed simultaneously, this cooperation similarly brings together Turkish music education at primary school level and conservatory education at higher education level in a harmonious structure.
Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç stated that through such activities and collaborations, initiatives are being carried out that reflect the visions of leading masters of Turkish music such as Cinuçen Tanrıkorur.
Within the scope of the protocol, the two institutions aim to develop academic and artistic cooperation in Turkish music education. Planned activities include the organization of joint events, increased academic knowledge and experience sharing, enabling students to benefit from different educational environments, and the mutual use of existing facilities. In addition, the implementation of sustainable projects and the provision of various benefits for stakeholders are planned.
