Academics from Haliç University met with prospective students and their families at Science Café events organized as part of the activities coordinated by the Science Communication Offices of universities under the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). At the Science Café meetings held with the participation of universities across Türkiye, future professions, employment-oriented higher education programs and emerging career fields were discussed.
The events, organized by Haliç University in cooperation with the Eyüpsultan District Directorate of National Education on August 6-7, 2026, addressed the impact of changes in the world of work and technological transformation on professions. Up-to-date information was shared to guide young people’s career planning and university preferences.
At the session titled “Future Professions: Engineering in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” held at Eyüpsultan Square on Thursday, August 6, Research Assistant Kerem Gül discussed the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the field of engineering. The session addressed areas of specialization expected to gain prominence in the future, career opportunities emerging in the age of data and automation and the competencies that young people need to develop today.
The other session of the program was held on Friday, August 7. Titled “Future Professions: Design and Visual Communication in the Digital World,” the session focused on the impact of digital transformation on the fields of design and communication. During the session conducted by Research Assistant Ferhat Şen, the impact of artificial intelligence on design processes, the future of content creation, emerging career opportunities in the field of design and the development of creativity and technology together were discussed.
Through the Science Café meetings, prospective students had the opportunity to learn about future professions from academics with expertise in their respective fields and gain a closer understanding of current developments in the world of work. The events contributed to helping young people shape their career goals in line with their interests and abilities and make more informed decisions during the university selection process.
