Dr. Fatma Azizoğlu, a faculty member in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences, has published a study titled “Bibliometric Analysis of Disaster Nursing and Disaster Management Research: Global Trends, Key Findings, and Future Perspectives (1980–2024)”in Nursing Reports, an internationally recognized Q1 journal in the field of nursing.
The study examined scientific research conducted in the fields of disaster nursing and disaster management over the past 45 years. The aim of the research was to reveal how studies in these fields have evolved, which topics have come to the forefront, and which areas should be focused on in future research.
As part of the study, more than 21,000 publications indexed in the Web of Science database were screened, and 1,331 scientific studies that met the specified criteria were analyzed in detail. The analysis revealed that research in the field of disaster nursing has diversified significantly over the years. While studies in the early periods primarily focused on disaster planning and emergency response, current research has focused on climate change, public health, and the needs of more vulnerable groups, including older adults, refugees, and individuals affected by migration.
