Elif Sude Akgül Wins Silver at the World Championships

Elif Sude Akgül, a student in our Coaching Education Department, won the silver medal in the women’s under-49 kg category at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships held in Wuxi, China, finishing as the world runner-up.

Despite suffering a serious injury prior to the championship, Akgül displayed exceptional determination and delivered an outstanding performance, making both our country and our university proud.

After receiving a bye in the first round, our national athlete advanced to the final by defeating:

• Nainara Linan Pardoof Andorra in the second round,
• Saffron Tambyrajahof Australia in the third round,
• Supharada Ateşliof Germany in the quarterfinals, and
• Xiaolu Fuof China in the semifinals.

We congratulate our student and her coaches on this remarkable achievement and wish her continued success in future competitions.
