Under the auspices of the Istanbul Governorship and coordinated by the Zero Waste Foundation, a coordination meeting was held at Neslişah Sultan Cultural Center to organize activities for Istanbul Zero Waste Week, scheduled for 1–7 June 2026.
The meeting was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, President of the Zero Waste Foundation Samed Ağırbaş, and representatives from public institutions, local administrations, universities, and non-governmental organizations. Representing our university, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Öykü İyigün and Lecturer Merve Babal, Director of Strategy Development and Quality Assurance Systems, participated in the meeting.
Discussions focused on promoting the zero waste management system, raising public awareness, and strengthening cooperation between institutions. It was also highlighted that March 30 has been designated “International Zero Waste Day” by the United Nations General Assembly, and that this awareness should be supported by all stakeholders.
The events during Istanbul Zero Waste Week aim to reinforce environmental sustainability and expand zero waste practices. Our university will continue contributing to raising awareness through its activities throughout this process.
