Aykut Taşgın, a third-year student at our University's Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Recreation, achieved an outstanding success at the European Taekwondo Poomsae Championships held in Estonia on April 16–17, 2025. Competing in the "Freestyle Over 18 Male Individual" category, he became the European champion by receiving the highest score in the final round, which featured 14 athletes.
Following the championship, Aykut Taşgın shared his thoughts:
"This was a championship I had been preparing for over a long period of time. I made sure I was mentally and physically well-prepared. After placing second in the last European Championships, my goal this year was to become the champion. It was a tough competition with participation from many countries. Among 14 competitors, I achieved the highest score and became the European champion. My next goal is to win the World Championship next year. I will continue my training with the same discipline and determination."
We congratulate our student Aykut Taşgın and wish him continued success.
