The "Akademix" exhibition, organized biennially by the International Association of Art/International Plastic Arts Association (IAA/AIAP), a formal partner of UNESCO, makes a significant impact in the art world. This year, the exhibition is being held for the fifth time, bringing together art enthusiasts.
Titled “Akademix V," this exhibition brings together artist-academics from various universities across Türkiye, providing a unique platform where art meets academic production. Dr. Ümran Özbalcı Aria, an academic from our Department of Cartoon and Animation, participates in the exhibition with her work titled “Duo Mandala."
Özbalcı Aria, her artwork about which she explained, “As an artist, while working on this philosophy, I created pieces in which I placed two portraits at the center, which I titled 'Duo Mandala,' departing from traditional approaches. This method symbolizes the harmonious union of the soul and body, leading to peace emerging from universal symmetry."
Reflecting the academic dimension of contemporary art with works produced through various techniques and approaches, Akademix V is also being presented to art enthusiasts. The exhibition opened to the public on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, from 16:00 to 19:00 at the Gallery of the International Association of Plastic Arts (UPSD). The exhibition can be visited daily from 12:00 to 18:00, except on Sundays and Mondays, from April 19 to April 30, 2025.
