Our Handball Team Became the Turkish Champion

​Our Men’s Handball Team became the undefeated Turkish Champion at the University Handball Türkiye Championship held in Antalya from April 24 to 29, 2025.

Our University Men’s Handball Team achieved remarkable success in both the championships held in Istanbul and nationwide. Under the leadership of Dr. Mustafa Aslan, a faculty member of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, and the coaching of İlker Şentürk, our team completed both major tournaments undefeated.

The fact that the entire roster consists of players who have represented national teams, currently wear the national jersey, and play for various clubs added significant value to this achievement. Our athletes stood out in the championship with their disciplined approach and team cohesion.

In the University Handball Championship held in Istanbul, our team won all their matches among 10 universities and became the Istanbul Champion, carrying this success over to the Turkish University Handball Championship held in Antalya. Competing against 12 universities, our team advanced to the semifinals by defeating Siirt University and Hitit University in the group stages. In the semifinals, they triumphed over Eskişehir Technical University, and in the final, they defeated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, completing the tournament undefeated and securing the title of Turkish Champions.

Ilker Şentürk, the coach of our handball team, commented on the achievement: “Throughout the season, we worked as a team with great dedication and discipline. Winning the championship undefeated, both in Istanbul and at the Turkish Championship, is a tremendous honor for us. I would like to express my gratitude to all our teammates, our administration, our rector, and our dean for their support throughout this journey. Our goal is to carry this success forward as we aim for the Super League.”​
