Our Student Gizem Nur Gezici Represents Türkiye at the International Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors

Our graduate student Gizem Nur Gezici successfully represented Türkiye as a representative of the Turkish Olympic Committee (TMOK) at the 66th International Session for Young Olympic Ambassadors, organized this year by the International Olympic Academy.

Held in Olympia, Greece, from 6 to 18 June 2026, the session was organized around the themes of “Strengthening Inclusion, Integrity, and Responsibility for Every Athlete” and “Advocating for Inclusion, Integrity, and Responsibility: Building a Safe and Fair Future for Every Athlete.” The program brought together 153 young Olympic ambassadors from 95 countries and featured sessions focusing on the universal values of sport, ethical principles, and the development of an inclusive sports culture.

A graduate of the Sport Management (English) Program and currently pursuing her master’s degree at our Institute of Graduate Studies, Gizem Nur Gezici participated in the poster competition titled “My Country’s First Olympic Athletes on the Road to the Olympics,”organized by the International Society of Olympic Historians. She presented her study titled “The First Turkish Women Olympians of the Republic,” which she prepared together with her master’s thesis supervisor and Deputy Head of the Department of Sport Management (English), Assist. Prof. Melek Yeşim Albayrak Kuruloğlu.

The poster, which is the only study focusing on the first female Olympic athletes of the Republic period, was successfully presented to international participants by our student Gizem Nur Gezici.
