The Quantum UAV team, which includes Necmettin Gedikli, a graduate of the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, secured a place among the 16 finalist teams in the Hunter Drone category of the TEKNOFEST Combat UAV Competition and received the “Best Team Spirit Award.”
Competing in the TEKNOFEST Combat UAV Competition held in Siirt, the Quantum UAV team successfully advanced to the finals as one of the 16 finalist teams in the Hunter Drone category. Standing out with its performance throughout the competition, the team was awarded the “Best Team Spirit Award.”
As the team’s Communications Lead, our graduate Necmettin Gedikli contributed to the development of the project by combining his knowledge and experience in aviation communications and software. By adopting a microservices architecture in the software design, Gedikli developed a system that enables services to operate independently of one another.
Stating that reaching the TEKNOFEST finals had been a dream he had had since his university years, Necmettin Gedikli shared his experience throughout the competition:
“I fulfilled a dream I had held since my university years. As the Communications Lead of my team, I initially faced challenges because I had started out in a different field. However, I continued working. As I gained more experience, I had the opportunity to work on projects that brought together aviation communications and full stack development.”
Noting that reaching the finals and winning an award in their first competition had been a significant experience for the team, Gedikli expressed his satisfaction with their achievement as follows:
“Despite it being our first year and the inexperience that came with it, I am pleased with our performance, the product we developed, and the results we achieved.”
