Fall Semester General Academic Assembly for the 2025–2026 Academic Year Held at Our University

The General Academic Assembly for the 2025–2026 Fall Semester was held at the Grand Conference Hall of our university. The program began with a moment of silence, followed by the Turkish National Anthem.

In his opening speech, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Nihat İnanç, outlined the university’s academic vision, its path towards institutional development, and future goals. Emphasizing the importance of Istanbul’s iconic landmarks—the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn—Prof. Dr. İnanç underlined the university’s commitment to increasing the visibility of the cultural and academic potential of the region.

He highlighted the importance of supporting academic efforts with strong national and international indicators and stated:
“Our primary purpose is our students. As academics, our main responsibility is to ensure that their efforts are properly recognized and supported.”

Stressing the value of institutional memory, Prof. Dr. İnanç said:
“Our university must establish a clear identity and direction. We must develop a collective memory that links our past to our future, like the links of a chain. The university must maintain its institutional identity independently of individuals or events and act with fairness and consistency based on established regulations.”

He also emphasized the importance of each faculty establishing systematic archiving and record-keeping practices, noting that transparency and accountability are essential to institutionalization. He encouraged all academic staff to contribute to education by offering at least one course at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Expressing pride in the university’s growing alumni network of over 30,000 graduates, Prof. Dr. İnanç also touched on efforts to enhance academic incentives and ensure the university’s economic sustainability. He concluded his speech by highlighting the importance of fairness and shared responsibility in academic duties:
“We will act with fairness and equity. We will share the workload.”

In the final part of the program, an Academic Promotion and Gowning Ceremony was held to welcome newly appointed academic staff and to honor those who have received promotions.
