A scientific study by Asst. Prof. Kübra Çiğdem Pekkoç Uyanık, a faculty member of the Department of Medical Biology at Haliç University Faculty of Medicine, titled “Cannabinoid receptor agonist WIN 55,212-2 modulates systemic inflammatory and oxidative stress responses in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats,” has been published in Inflammopharmacology, one of the internationally recognized academic journals, with an impact factor of 6.3.
The study investigated the effects of the CB1/CB2 receptor agonist WIN 55,212-2 on diabetes-related inflammation and oxidative stress in a rat model of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes. The effects of different doses of WIN 55,212-2 on glycemic, inflammatory, and oxidative stress parameters were compared with those observed in the metformin group. In particular, the 1 mg/kg dose of WIN 55,212-2 was found to reduce blood glucose levels, decrease the inflammatory response and improve oxidative stress parameters.
We congratulate our academician and wish her continued success.
