In the Artificial Intelligence Operations Program at Haliç University, students’ academic performance is monitored and evaluated through various methods appropriate to the nature of each course. Midterm exams, projects, reports, quizzes, homework, practical work, and end-of-term (final) exams form the main components of this evaluation. For each course, at least one midterm and one final exam are conducted during the semester; the midterm grade may also include homework, laboratory exams, and similar assessment tools. The assessment and evaluation processes are governed by the basic principles set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and organized by the Senate of Haliç University. Students’ success grades are calculated using letter and/or numerical grading systems in line with these principles. When converting between the 4-point and 100-point grading scales, the conversion chart approved by YÖK is used. In order to take the end-term exam, students must attend at least 70% of the theoretical classes and at least 80% of the practical classes. In calculating the success grade, midterm exams contribute 40% and the final exam contributes 60%; all exams are scored out of 100 points. Students who receive one of the grades AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC are considered to have passed the course; grades of DC and DD are considered conditional success. For each course, the assessment tools to be used and whether evaluation is relative or absolute are determined by the relevant administrative board before the start of the academic year. In this way, students’ learning is measured in a multidimensional manner, and both in-term and end-of-term performances are evaluated through a fair and transparent system. |
