Iftar Gathering of Our Academic and Administrative Staff

Our university’s academic and administrative staff came together for a special iftar program. Held at Haliç Sofra, which was reopened this year with its renewed concept, the event provided a meaningful occasion to reinforce the culture of unity and sharing.

Prior to the iftar, a Ramadan Special Concert organized by the Directorate of our Conservatory was held at the Grand Conference Hall. Under the direction of our Conservatory Director, Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç, the concert featured performances by faculty members and students. Pieces selected from the Uşşak, Hüseyni, and Nihavent makams of Turkish classical music were performed, offering attendees a musical experience reflecting the spirit of Ramadan.

Following the concert, the academic and administrative staff moved to Haliç Sofra for the iftar program. In his remarks, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Enes Eryarsoy, shared his reflections on the university’s educational approach, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Noting that theoretical knowledge gains meaning through practice, he stated that the university aims to establish a balanced and sustainable transition from theory to practice for its students.

Prof. Dr. Eryarsoy also addressed the concepts of “ilim” (knowledge) and “amel” (action), emphasizing that knowledge remains incomplete unless it is put into practice. He highlighted that the month of Ramadan offers a special opportunity to strengthen this awareness and reaffirmed that sharing, empathy, and solidarity constitute fundamental values of our university culture.

Following the Rector’s speech, a recitation from the Holy Qur’an was delivered. The program concluded with the communal breaking of the fast, marking a warm and sincere gathering of our academic and administrative staff.
