Introduction | KADİD

Since its establishment in 1998, Haliç University has embraced a vision centered on fostering a culture of quality in higher education. Guided by this vision, an important milestone in the institutionalization process was reached in 2018 with the preparation of the university’s first written Strategic Plan, which provided a roadmap covering the years 2018 to 2022. In the subsequent years, as accreditation and quality-oriented initiatives gained momentum, the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan was implemented, giving the university’s quality management system a more comprehensive and sustainable foundation.

By 2024, the quality assurance system had gained an official identity within the university. A significant transformation was initiated to monitor, document and improve institutional processes with the goal of advancing Haliç University into a distinguished higher education institution. Within this framework, the quality-oriented restructuring process is coordinated by the Integrated Quality Management and Digital Transformation Coordination Board (KADİD). The Board is chaired by Rector Prof. Nihat İNANÇ, with Prof. Murat KAYRİ serving as Quality Consultant.

Under the structure of KADİD, twelve thematic commissions were established to review all academic and administrative processes through a quality assurance perspective. During this process, regulations and directives were revised in line with quality principles, documentation systems were updated, and units such as research and application centers and the Directorate of Scientific Research Projects were reorganized to support a quality-driven workflow. Significant progress has also been achieved in areas directly related to students. The Office of the Dean of Students, the Student Council Presidency and other student representation structures have been restructured to increase student participation in governance and their contribution to quality processes.

In educational activities, a student-centered, learning outcomes-based and continuously monitored structure has been established. Research and development, publishing, project management, intellectual property, commercialization and technology transfer processes have been reorganized in accordance with the frameworks of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the European Research Area (ERA) and the regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In the field of societal contribution, social responsibility projects, sustainability efforts and collaborations with external stakeholders have become integral parts of the quality assurance system.

All these efforts are carried out within the four main domains defined by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK): leadership and governance, education and training, research and development, and societal contribution. In this way, the systematic monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of quality processes are ensured. In line with this holistic and sustainable approach, the Institutional Self-Assessment Report (KİDR) has been prepared with the same understanding and integrated into the quality management system. The multi-layered quality structure coordinated under KADİD strengthens the institutional memory of Haliç University and contributes to its vision of enhancing competitiveness at both national and international levels through a data-driven, participatory and digitally integrated management approach.
