About The Program
The two-year Foreign Trade Programme aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required for global trade. Based at Haliç University's Vocational School, the programme began accepting students in the 2025-2026 academic year. The programme lasts two years and is taught in Turkish.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the programme covers the economic, financial, legal and political dimensions of foreign trade, training students in areas such as economics, general accounting, foreign trade transactions, international political economy, marketing and customs procedures. This prepares them for roles in both the public and private sectors. Additionally, the programme's content focused on international relations contributes to an understanding of the geopolitical and diplomatic dimensions of foreign trade, in addition to the economic ones.
The program, in addition to theoretical knowledge, equips students with the ability to think analytically, use foreign trade documents accurately, and manage foreign trade operations at both national and international levels. One of the graduation requirements is a mandatory 30-day summer internship in the sector. Through this internship, students gain experience of working in foreign trade companies, customs consultancies, logistics companies and public institutions, and can observe foreign trade operations first-hand. This allows them to integrate the theoretical knowledge acquired during the learning process with professional practice.
Graduates of the program may, through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) in the fields determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), transfer to four-year undergraduate programs such as Banking, Banking and Insurance, Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, Economics, Economics and Finance, Finance and Banking, Business Administration, Logistics Management, Capital Markets, Political Science and International Relations, International Finance, International Finance and Banking, International Relations, International Business Management, International Trade, International Trade and Finance, International Trade and Management, International Trade and Logistics. Additionally, provided they pass the DGS, students may transfer to four-year undergraduate programs in Open Education Faculties in fields such as Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, International Logistics, Political Science and Public Administration, International Relations, International Trade and Logistics, Public Relations and Advertising, Public Relations and Promotion, Aviation Management.

Message from the Head of the Program

Dear Students,

In an increasingly globalised world, foreign trade plays a strategic role in countries' economic growth and in enhancing their international competitiveness. The daily increase in international trade and the convergence of markets and cultures is creating an ever-growing demand for qualified professionals in this field. Against this backdrop, our programme is designed to nurture foreign trade experts who are well-equipped to meet the demands of both our country and the global market.
Our programme offers a comprehensive curriculum combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Course content covers subjects including International Relations, Foreign Trade Accounting, International Political Economy, Customs Procedures, International Logistics, Trade Law, Marketing and E-commerce. Through these courses, our students develop a thorough grasp of the economic, political, legal and technological aspects of foreign trade.
Additionally, seminars and panels organised with industry experts and business representatives enable our students to closely follow current developments and establish professional connections.
Digitalisation in foreign trade, e-commerce platforms, and new technological applications are important focal points of our programme. To this end, we have added computer and software-based courses to our curriculum, providing our students with the opportunity to learn foreign trade software and basic computer applications in our state-of-the-art laboratories. Thus, our graduates are well prepared for their professional lives, having mastered both traditional and digital trade processes.
Join our programme and become a professional who can adapt to the dynamics of global trade, equipped with foreign language and technical skills and capable of analytical thinking.
