My Esteemed Young Friend,
Throughout history’s journey in which the individual, society, governments and civilizations have undergone transformation, there exist rare environments that have managed to preserve their value and allure. These environments are places that, while adapting to the spirit of the times, have been able to carry their authentic identity beyond time itself. The Golden Horn is one of the most prominent examples of such environments. This unique valley, winding through the heart of Istanbul, has been a center of attraction for commerce, production, art, science and human diversity throughout history. The Golden Horn is like a mirror reflecting Istanbul’s east-west, ancient-modern, tradition-future faces and the city has evolved along the Golden Horn axis.
Our University, established under the name of this valley where knowledge, commerce and art have flowed, continues its journey as a center of thought, production and innovation in the light of this profound historical memory. This journey is accompanied by the Golden Horn’s ancient accumulation, today’s knowledge and the codes of the future.
For centuries, different cultures have coexisted side by side along the shores of the Golden Horn and this diversity has transformed into a distinctive unifying culture. All our students, coming from every corner of our country and from different geographies of the world are a reflection of this culture and shared heritage.
For us, university education is more than simply transferring knowledge; it is a process in which the individual discovers themselves, assumes social responsibility, creates value and builds their own story. For this reason, beyond our graduates being successful and having careers, we aim for them to be individuals who are just, responsible, devoted to their country and who create value for the benefit of humanity.
As you chart your own path within this deep-rooted story, I believe that through your presence and what you produce, you will have a voice in the future of the city, the country and humanity.
