Students who register for a course at the beginning of the semester are required to attend at least 70% of theoretical lectures and at least 80% of practical classes in order to be eligible to take the final examination. Students are assessed through at least one midterm exam and one final exam for each course. The midterm exam (which may include assessment tools such as assignments, laboratory exams, quizzes, etc.) contributes 40% to the final grade, while the final exam contributes 60%. All exams are graded on a scale of 100 points. Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC are considered to have successfully passed the course. Grades of DC and DD are considered conditionally passed. The evaluation of student achievement is based on either a relative or an absolute grading system. The determination of which system will be used is decided by the relevant board of directors prior to the beginning of the academic year. For the conversion between the 4.0 and 100-point grading systems, the conversion table prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is used. |
