Prof. Dr. Ahmet Emre Bilgili's book Istanbul of the Century, edited by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Emre Bilgili and published by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, has met with its readers.

The book includes 37 articles under the titles "Historical Istanbul and Archaeology", "Economic and Political Life", "City and Social Life" and "Capital of Culture". The book covers many fields such as politics, trade, economy, health, archeology, museology, museology, bookbinding, industry, sports, tourism, urbanism, radio-television and cinema, traditional arts and Istanbul cuisine in detail.

Academics of our university contributed to the "Capital of Culture" section of the work with their articles. In his article titled "From Ehl-i Hiref to Alamet-i Fârikaya Design", Prof. Dr. Önder Küçükerman from the Department of Industrial Design explained in detail the story of the first designers of the Ottoman Empire living in Topkapı Palace, the Ehl-i Hiref organization and its contributions to the art and craft heritage of Istanbul.

Conservatory Faculty Members Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç and Research Assistant Murat Salim Tokaç and Research Assistant Murathan Yusufoğlu, in their article titled "Music and Istanbul", examined the effects of the reform movements that were initiated in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and continued in the Republican period on music. The reflections of the reforms on the music institutions and policies of the Republican period and the changes that music passed through throughout the century were discussed.

The Istanbul of the Century takes a broad perspective on Istanbul's diverse cultural, economic and social heritage. The contributions of Haliç University academics to this work shed light on Istanbul's cultural heritage by highlighting the city's historical and artistic values in both design and music. These studies reveal once again the importance of academic and artistic interest in the history of the city.
